Importing larger MySQL files (Linux .sql files)

phpMyAdmin is somewhat limited when it comes to importing larger .sql dump files. For that reason we have made a program available on every server that lets you import a .sql dump file on the server in question. You must have uploaded the .sql file via FTP to your home directory (the directory that also contains the domains directory). You must also create the database and a database user beforehand.

You can start the program by adding /wsc/bigdump.php after your domain name. If your domain name has not been transferred yet and so does not point to our server yet, you can enter the server name followed by /wsc/bigdump.php. So something like http://linuxXX.webawere.nl/wsc/bigdump.php. Replace XX with the number or code of the server your domain is on. If you use the server name, you need to use chmod via the DirectAdmin file manager to change the .sql file to chmod 666. This is an option in the file manager (and in some FTP programs).

Sqldumpsplitter
Perhaps even easier is using http://www.sqldumpsplitter.com. There you can download a program that splits a large SQL file into smaller SQL files. We recommend making separate SQL files of 5 MB each and importing them (in the right order!).
