Transfer your domain name in two steps
Transferring a domain name often turns out to be easier than you'd expect beforehand. Here's how it works.
Request your transfer code
Request the transfer code from your current provider. Usually you'll see it right away in the control panel, sometimes it arrives by email. Here's how to find it at your provider
Check your domain and order
Enter your domain name and complete the order. You enter the transfer code during checkout. You can transfer multiple domains in the same order.
Then it happens automatically
- Instantly The transfer is submitted to the registry straight away, with no manual actions.
- After a few hours .nl, .be and .eu are transferred straight away, and after 2-4 hours of DNS sync time the domain is active with us. A .com transfer can take up to 5 days due to ICANN rules.
- Done You'll get an email once the transfer has been processed. We renew the domain registration immediately by 12 months.
Want to move your website to us too? Then order a web hosting plan with the free migration service, and we'll handle the migration of your website.
Keep in mind that your domain name is separate from your mail and your website; it is never transferred along automatically. Any questions about this? Let us know!
Switching pays off: look at the long-term price
Many providers lure you with absurdly low prices for the 1st year that they make a loss on, then hit you on renewal with a much higher price. Transfer your domain to WebOké and you pay cost price in the first year and a fair renewal price after that. Below you can see what a .nl domain really costs you over 5 years at 7 major Dutch providers.
Total cost of a .nl domain over 5 years
Over five years you'll spend €42.79 on a .nl domain at WebOké. At most Dutch providers that runs up to well over double, purely because their renewal price is much higher.
| # | Provider | Parent company | Year 1 | After/yr | Cost over 5 yrs | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | WebOké | Independent | €4,99 | €9,45 | cheapest | |

Promotional rates are usually valid for new customers on first registration; renewal prices are the standard prices after year 1. On a transfer you pay the year-1 rate and your domain is immediately renewed for one year.

What is a transfer code?
A transfer code is a unique security code that proves you are the owner of your domain name, think of it as a password. Only with this code can a domain be moved from one provider to another. That way no one else can simply take over your domain.
The same code has a different name per extension, but it's all the same thing:
You request the code from your current provider, usually via the control panel, sometimes via customer service. Then you enter it with us while completing your order, and we handle the rest. See where to find the code per provider ↓
Good to know
Is your domain in quarantine?
An expired .nl domain goes into quarantine for 40 days (this also applies to .be and .eu). Only the last holder can recover it during that period, after which it becomes available to everyone again. Don't wait until this period is over: such domains are regularly bought up with the aim of reselling them to the original owner. Want to have a domain name recovered from quarantine? Let us know!
