Quarantine and the .EU domain

A .EU domain name can go into quarantine if the domain name is deleted by the registrar. The domain name then normally remains inactive in quarantine for 40 days, after which it is released and can be registered by third parties again.

The domain name can be reactivated by the registrar that deleted it. However, it is also possible to instruct a new registrar to start a transfer out of quarantine. These transactions cost more than a normal transfer because this is not the standard procedure. It is also important to know that this transfer must be approved and completed before the end of the quarantine period. Otherwise the domain name will be irrevocably released.

In addition to the domain costs, we charge 20 euros for taking a domain name out of quarantine that went into quarantine through us, and 40 euros for transferring a domain name out of quarantine at another registrar.
