Making and restoring a backup of your DNS

In your domain's DNS management you can make a backup of the complete DNS zone with a single button. Before you change anything in your DNS, make a backup first: you can then always return to the working situation and experiment safely with your settings.

Making a DNS backup

  1. Log in to My WebOké.
  2. Go to My Domains and choose your domain.
  3. Open the DNS tab.
  4. Click the button to make a backup. The complete zone, meaning all records at that moment, is saved.

Restoring a backup

  1. Open the same DNS screen of your domain.
  2. Choose the backup you want to restore and confirm.
  3. Your DNS records are back to how they were at the time of the backup.

Good to know

  • Make it a habit to create a backup before every larger change, for example when you move your website or change email records. It takes one click and can save you a lot of troubleshooting.
  • After restoring, due to DNS caching it may take a while before everyone on the internet sees the old situation again.
