Certificate error when collecting email

In your email program you can enter your domain name as the incoming and outgoing mail server. That would be mail.uwdomein.xx. If you choose a secure connection, you may get an error message about the certificate. This is because the mail server uses the certificate *.webawere.nl, while the email is collected via your domain. Because these do not match, this warning appears, which is harmless. You can accept the certificate without any problems; usually you can do this by viewing it and then choosing install or save.

If you want to avoid this warning, you can enter the server name instead of mail.uwdomein.xx. This article explains where to find the server name you should use.

Alternatively, you can activate a free Let's Encrypt certificate in the control panel. This is explained in this article.

Error messages you may get:

  • The certificate belongs to a different website, which could indicate identity theft
  • Certificate status: This website is attempting to identify itself with invalid information.
  • Confirm Security Exception / Get Certificate

See this article for the recommended email settings.
