.nl domains and the quarantine period

After a cancellation we will end the domain name on its expiry date (you can cancel your domain at mijn.weboke.nl under My Domains). This is followed by the 40-day quarantine period, during which the domain is offline and no changes are possible. Only after these 40 days does the domain become available. The cost of taking a domain that was registered with us out of quarantine is EUR 20. The cost of transferring a domain with quarantine status from another registrar to us is EUR 60. On top of this come the costs of 1 year of domain registration.

If your domain name is in quarantine, you can wait until the date on which it becomes available and then register it again. Be aware, though, that some companies hunt for domain names like these in order to sell them back to you at high prices. So bear in mind the risk that registering it again may not always succeed. If your domain name really matters to you, it is wise to take it out of quarantine.
